Concept, Parts and Types of Radiator
Radiators are designed to allow a fast heat dissipation and a good airflow through the radiator honeycomb.
Radiator is in charge of cooling enough the coolant liquid to prevent boiling and keep circulating by the cooling system.
Factors influencing heat dissipation, and temperature between the coolant liquid and atmosphere air are: radiator front surface, radiator permeability to liquid, air and contact surface of liquid in the radiant surface.
A radiator consists of two metallic or plastic tanks connected one against the other through a honeycomb equipped with thin tubes and fins. The coolant runs from the inlet tank through the outlet tank tubes, provided that the engine thermostat is open.
There are Downflow Radiators, the first ones having the inlet tank in the top part and the outlet tank on the bottom part, Crossflow Radiators are provided with tanks on their sides.
