A Radiator is provided with plastic tanksand one aluminum core. Good quality -metallic radiators (Copper-brass radiators) are not used, plastic models are more expensive and are easily manufactured. Central core is wavy for plastic tanks with one joint or gasket (o-ring) between the core (Honeycomb) and tank. This makes many leak possibilities, however, the most common cause of leaks in the radiator is due to breaks in the inlet tank (the tank where hot water circulates from the engine), said tank may be placed in the top part or central core sides, this will depend on the radiator design for the automobile model.
Steps to be followed for replacing the radiator plastic tank
1. Remove top and bottom hoses from the radiator, by using pliers to compress fixed springs.
2. Open flaps keeping plastic tank or honeycomb pressed by using pliers.
3. Remove the Tank after opening carefully all flaps by using pliers.
4. Remove the gasket placed under the plastic tank to be replaced.
5. Use a copper bristle brush to clean the radiator reservoir and place a new gasket. It is always recommended to replace gaskets
6. Lubricate the gasket with oil for a better coupling at the moment of tank mounting.
7. Place the tank over the recovery container with the gasket lubricated with oil.
8. Press the tank over the radiator recovery, one plier can be used or, for a better grasp, two pliers to achieve a better tank compression over the gasket and recovery.
9. Staple the flaps we have open by using clamps carefully, and not breaking the tank and not twisting the recovery in some parts of it.
10. We should be careful when using the same pressure to each one of the staples of recovery until achieving a lineal and standard sealing.
11. Install the radiator in the automobile, by fixing such in its appropriate gear assembly
12. Install hoses with its clamp.
13. Wash block
14. Fill out by using original coolant.
It is important to use the appropriate tools to replace the Radiator plastic tank.
